How to set a Data Exclusion Period in Shopping Booster

This feature can be used to exclude sales periods from the lookback window in Shopping Booster.

During sales periods like Black Week, product performance data often becomes skewed due to inflated metrics—higher conversion rates, increased purchase intent, and lower profit margins. While this can be great during the sales, it creates challenges afterward when tools and campaigns rely on this historical data for segmentation and performance evaluation.

The Exclusion Period feature solves this problem by allowing you to exclude specific sales periods from the data used for segmentation and decision-making. For instance, if your segmentation rules use a 90-day lookback window, you can exclude Black Week (November 24–30) to ensure your product performance data reflects typical periods, not sales-driven spikes.

This feature works seamlessly alongside Google’s Exclusion Period, which adjusts the algorithm but doesn’t address reporting or tools relying on API data. With Shopping Booster’s Exclusion Period, you gain an extra layer of control to normalize product performance data and improve your campaign management.

Follow the steps below.

  5. Set an End date
Brave Browser Workflow - Step 8
  6. By default, the Exclusion is activated by the end of the Exclusion period. This is especially helpful for discount seasons like Blaick Friday / Black week where you want products to get new labels during the disacounted period, but immediately switch back to their previous labels once the period is over.

If you want to avoid changing the labels during the discounted period, you should select "Activate on Start date".

  7. Click Update

That's it. Your Exclusion period is now set.
