Follow the steps below to create a Google Ads User-provided Data Event tag in Google Tag Manager
- Go to https://tagmanager.google.com
- Click "Tags"
- Click "New"
- Click "Tag Configuration"

Click "Google Ads"

Click "Google Ads User-provided Data Event"
- Type your Google Ads Conversion is without "AW- / GT-" in front. (Example: 123456789)
- Select a User-provided Data variable.
User-proved Data variables can be very different depending on how they are set up. You can use automatic collection, which is easy, but might cause incorrect data like company email to be picked up, or you can choose a custom variable like a DataLayer Variable or Javascript. How to continue depends on your current set up.- Select your existing variable if you have one
- Select "New variable" if you do not have one
You now have two options. Manual or Automatic Configuration
- Select "Manual collection" if you already have a variable containing the customer email or you are able to create one. Then select the variable
- Select "Automatic collection" if you do not have a variable containing the customer email and you are not able to create one.
- Select "Manual collection" if you already have a variable containing the customer email or you are able to create one. Then select the variable
- Click "Save"
- Select your existing variable if you have one
- Click "Triggering"
- Select "Form Submission" If your User-provided Data variable uses "Automatic collection"
- Select "Purchase" If your User-provided Data variable uses "Manual collection" and the email variable is available on the Purchase event
- Select "Form Submission" If your User-provided Data variable uses "Automatic collection"

Click "Save"
- Click "Save"
- Preview and Publish the changes
