How to create charts and apply filters in Looker Studio

In this guide, we will cover how to create charts and apply the necessary filters by using a template or do it manually.

Part 1: Create a chart

    1. Click "Add a chart"

    2. Click the chart you wish to create. In this example, we will use a "Scorecard"

      You have two options. You can either use the default fields and manually change the name, type and formula, or you can use our predefined custom fields.
      1. OPTION A: Use ProfitMetrics pre-defined custom fields

        1. Click the active metric "Clicks"

        2. Search for "PM" and select the desired field. In this example, we choose "PM Conversions"

      2. OPTION B: Use default fields
        1. Click the active metric "Clicks"

        2. Search for "All" and select the desired field. In this example, we will select "All conv."

        3. Click the "Edit-icon" to modify the metric.

        4. Modify the Name and choose the desired format. In this example we call it "PM Conversions" and select the format of Number
    3. Now we need to add a filter. This can be done using our pre-build filters or creating a filter manually.

      1. OPTION A: Add a pre-build filter
        Scroll down and click "ADD A FILTER"

        1. Select "PM Revenue" if you wish to filter for Revenue or select "PM Gross Profit" if you wish to filter for Gross Profit. In this example, we will choose "PM Gross Profit."

          IMPORTANT:
          Always remember to add the appropriate filter.
          If the metric name contains "Revenue" add the "PM Revenue" filter.
          If the metric name contains "Gross Profit" add the "PM Gross Profit" filter.

      2. OPTION B: Add a pre-build filter
        Scroll down and click "ADD A FILTER"

        1. Click "CREATE A FILTER"

        2. Type "PM Gross Profit" in the Name field

        3. Click "Select a field"

        4. Select "Segment Conversion Type Name"

        5. Click "Select a condition"

        6. Select "Contains"

        8. Click "Save"
